Interested citizens, existing and emerging energy communities, farmers, local councillors and mayors recently took part in a study visit to one of the region’s most innovative energy projects: the Agri-PV installation in Fendt near Peißenberg (Region Oberland). Organised by our German project partner “Bürgerstiftung Energiewende Oberland” in collaboration with the energy cooperative “Energiegenossenschaft Oberland”, the event offered a unique opportunity to explore how the energy transition can succeed on the ground.
Numerous participants, including representatives from politics, agriculture, the energy sector and local communities, gathered to see firsthand how agricultural land can be used simultaneously for food production and solar energy generation. The Agri-PV technology showcased in Fendt not only enables a dual use of land, but also provides additional benefits for the microclimate and soil protection.
“This project perfectly exemplifies the energy transition in our region: it is local, renewable and driven by community engagement”
Susanne Seeling, Board Member of Energiegenossenschaft Oberland
Christiane Regauer from Energiewende Oberland was equally pleased with the strong turnout: “The interest shown today underlines a growing demand for practical solutions to the climate crisis. Projects like this make it clear how we can advance the energy transition at a local level.”
The visit included technical insights into the planning and implementation of the installation, as well as lively discussions on the future role of Agri-PV in the Oberland region. There was also valuable exchange among farmers on land management practices. Participants posed numerous questions, ranging from economic feasibility and legal frameworks to options for getting involved themselves.
This event formed part of the joint efforts by Energiewende Oberland and Energiegenossenschaft Oberland to make the regional energy transition transparent, citizen-focused and sustainable.
It also highlighted how the POWER-E-COM project is supporting and promoting energy communities across Europe.
